The audio guides available in the Forbidden City are very useful. They provide detailed information about the different attractions and help you navigate through the complex. It's a convenient way to learn about the history and significance of each place.

China travel FAQs

China is a destination for travelers from all over the world and is generally a safe country to visit as long as you know where you are going, stay alert and obey local laws. That said, the Chinese government does maintain strict controls over websites, news reporting and other foreign influences, and internet censorship and public surveillance are common. Demonstrations and protests in public places are prohibited in China, which could get you in trouble if you find yourself in the middle of one, or if you take photos or video of the event.

YZD takes the health and safety of travelers very seriously and takes every measure to ensure that everyone's trip is safe, fun and enjoyable. We recommend that all travelers check with their government or national travel advisory body for the most up-to-date information prior to departure.

Yes, of course. All passengers traveling on YZD are required to purchase travel insurance prior to the start of the trip. Cell phone coverage is generally good in China's cities and remains good in remote and rural areas. If you have an unlocked cell phone, purchasing a local SIM card upon arrival may be the cheapest and most reliable option for staying connected. If you wish to use global roaming, be sure to contact your service provider to find out how much it will cost, as it is often very expensive.

Internet access is usually good in hotels and tourist areas, but limited in remote areas. Some fast food chains, restaurants and cafes offer free Wi-Fi, but a Chinese phone number may be required to receive a login code. Login prompts may also be in Chinese. You may want to download the WeChat app during your visit, which is the country's most popular messaging app. It's kind of like WhatsApp meets Facebook.

In mainland China, tipping is not usually expected and in some cases may even be considered rude. However, it is becoming more common for tourists to tip receptionists in tourist areas. The tipping culture in Hong Kong is different from that of upscale or Western-style restaurants in major cities such as Beijing and Hong Kong, where cab drivers, restaurants, and service staff usually ask for tips.

Visitors from most countries require a visa to enter China. For more information, please visit the official government website or Basic Travel Information. Visas are the responsibility of the traveler. Entry requirements may change at any time, so be sure to check the latest information!
